Putting one foot in front of the other,
we will continue to walk on the path Christ has set for us. The People

WE APPROACH OUR GRACIOUS GOD
CALL TO WORSHIP
What is that? Are people singing?
It sounds like a parade!
Someone is coming, riding a donkey.
People are scattering cloaks on the ground and waving branches as he comes.
God’s Chosen one is coming, how can we help but sing and dance our joy?
Hosanna, Loud Hosanna, we sing as we join in the parade of ages…
PALM PARADE Come Into the Streets With Me
LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE
Our faith story opens with the words “Let there be light”. Our weekly worship begins with the lighting of a candle.
May this candle remind us of the light that cannot be overcome, no matter how dark the road may be.
LIFE & WORK OF THE CONGREGATION
WE GREET EACH OTHER WITH CHRIST'S PEACE
Music ministry: “We’re Leading the Way” Jr. Choir
God, today we join with the crowds by the roadside,
cheering and waving in excitement.
As we remember the story today walk with us on the road,
filling us with hope for the coming of the Lord, pushing us to make the path ready.
But also we need our hearts opened to your wisdom,
because we remember that this triumphant parade leads to a bad end.
In this time of prayer and singing and story remind us what kind of kingdom we are actually awaiting.
and forgive us when we fall victim to dreams of glory without the shadow of the cross.
As forgiven and forgiving people we join in the raggedy band parading to the promised land.
And so we march with the one who leads the parade, singing the words he taught his friends…

A TIME FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART
PRAYER FOR AND ASSURANCE OF GRACE
God, on this day of great joy and excitement,
it is easy to get caught up in the hopes and the shouting.
But there is something else lurking around the corner,
a shadow of doubt and testing. A shadow of death and devastation.
Even as we join in the joy,
we admit that we may also join in the voices of another crowd, shouting NO in the face of your offer of a new world.
For the times we choose the easy parade over the hard road of change. For the days we choose to remain in the shadows...
forgive and strengthen us. Set us free from fear so that we can proclaim openly the coming of your Reign.
...time of silent prayer...
As we wave the branches we proclaim that the Reign of God is here and now! As citizens of God's Kingdom we are forgiven in our doubts and our mis-steps. We are set free of the past to move toward a hope-filled future.
Hosanna! The King is here! Praise and thanks to God! Amen

Hymn “All Glory Laud and Honour” (#122 VU)
We have joined with the crowds in the cheering and celebrations.
We look forward to the coming time of glory.
As part of the hope-filled crowd we go to tell those around us of the possibilities that lie before us.
We share the promise of the Peaceable Kingdom found in a king on a donkey.
But off in the distance a shadow looms, a threat to all our hopes.
Nevertheless we will walk boldly towards the shadow, trusting in the light that lies beyond it.
Go out into this Holy Week to walk the path that leads to the cross. Walk that path knowing that we do not walk it alone: the Crucified One goes with us, the Creator is there to strengthen us, the Holy Spirit fills us with hope everlasting. Amen.
