LIFE & WORK OF THE CONGREGATION

 CALL TO WORSHIP

Wherever we go, God is always there.

God is behind us and before us.

God is above us and below us.

God is within us and around us.

And where God is, there is space to worship.

God waits for us here with a love that is eternal,

And in this space we come to worship.    (Gathering- Pentecost 2 Year A 2014)

WE GREET EACH OTHER WITH CHRIST’S PEACE

LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE

The lighting of the candle symbolizes the presence of God in our midst.

Let us celebrate God’s presence here with joy and thanksgiving.

OPENING PRAYER

Thank you, God!  You are with us in so many ways.

You are the cool dark, calming us from our bright days.

You are the beacon of light, helping us to find our way in the gloom.

Thank you, God!  In this time together, hold us close,

Bless our gathering, fill us with love.

In Christ’s name we ask it and continue to pray in the word’s Jesus taught us….

A TIME FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART

PRAYER FOR AND ASSURANCE OF GRACE

There are times when we do not recognize you, when our eyes are so clouded with wilderness dust that we do not see the burning bush.

Help us, God, to see.

There are times when we do not understand that your new community of love and justice is what the kingdom is all about.

Help us to understand.

There are times when we do not dare to abandon our worn-out tawdry lives in exchange for the newness of your eternal life.

Help us to take up your cross.

Amen                                                                                    (Celebrate God's Presence)

Until we meet again,

Walk gently in the way;

Dwell in the hollow of God’s hand.

Rejoice and sing, and pray!
